Video Brand Journalism is one of the most effective video storytelling strategies a business or any other brand can use today. When I describe what STORYSMART offers, I often use the term "brand journalism" even though many are not familiar with the term or concept.
We believe so much in brand journalism that when we formed our company it was first formed under the name Brand Journalism Strategies LLC. After a year in business, we changed the name to STORYSMART Creative Social Media LLC and are now just STORYSMART.
But the change in the name of our business doesn't change our commitment to the approach. It is interwoven into the proprietary system we are deploying all over the United States using some of the best reporters in the business.

So what is brand journalism?
While there is no universally accepted definition of "brand journalism," we define it as journalism commissioned on behalf of a brand to serve a brand objective.
Brand journalism is about communicating news and information without selling. It about telling a story. Telling not selling.

What sets the brand journalism approach apart from typical corporate video production is that we don't follow a script. Our reporters conduct interview with the client so it is as natural as a conversation and is authentic to the audience.
The big difference between brand journalism and traditional journalism isn't how the story is prepared, but who commissioned it and why.

As I mentioned, brand journalism isn't new. It has been around over a hundred years. John Deere launched "The Furrow" in 1895 to help farmers. My former employer, the St. Louis Cardinals have published Cardinals Magazine for over thirty years. Catholics in St. Louis have read the St. Louis Review for more than I've been on this earth. The same holds true for Jewish families who subscribe to the St. Louis Jewish Light.
When I turned 50, I became a member of AARP and now get their brand journalism publication, a monthly magazine delivered to my home.
